Buttercream Cake Class- Textured Buttercream and Palette Knife Petals (6th December 2024 @ 10am AEDT)
Join me on Friday the 6th of December (06.12.24) at 10am AEDT (Melbourne Australia time) in this small group LIVE Zoom class and decorate along with me! You will be able to share your video stream as well, so I can give tailored guidance along the way. In this class, you will learn:
- How to level, tort, fill, stack and crumb-coat your cakes
- how to create a smooth and sharp buttercream finish on your cakes
- how to create a fun, raised edge buttercream finish to the top of your cake
- how to create trendy palette knife petals to your cake
- how to create trendy textured buttercream patches on your cakes
- how to apply a plaque to the front of your cake (if you have one available, optional).
- How to create sphere decorations using styrofoam and melted chocolate
This class is tailored to beginner and intermediate level cake decorators. To make sure everyone has a chance to ask questions and receive guidance and the right attention, the class will be capped at 12 students max. You are welcome to decorate along with me, or some people also prefer to sit in and watch, whatever tickles your fancy :) PLEASE NOTE- This class be recorded and shared with the students who have booked in for the class so they may review the lessons and have a copy to keep. Your video feed will likely be part of this recording if you choose to turn your camera on during the class.
If you are unable to make the class, you will still have an opportunity to follow along to the recording of the class.
What to bring along:
- two 6 inch round mud cakes (I recommend this recipe if baking from scratch and DOUBLING the recipe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtwQGuukPdQ&t=51s )
- serrated cake knife
- turn table
- offset spatula (5 inch long works well or up to 8 inches long)
- non slip mat
- 10 inch cake board
- buttercream (I recommend this recipe, but DOUBLE this recipe please: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHyO2ctjaBI&t=76s )
- small tapered palette knife
- edible pearls of your choice
- frosting scraper
- styrofoam balls, approximately 5cm round, 3cm round and 1cm round, or a few different sizes will do)
- microwave safe bowl
- pink gel food colour
- vegetable oil
- toothpicks
- 200 grams white chocolate
- cake plaque to secure to the front of the cake
- scissors
- baking paper
